Whether you are a business owner acting as Self-Employed or you are a Representative of a Company, or other cases, you will find it very useful to have a Digital Certificate. The Digital Certificate has a determined duration, so we need to know what the keys to the renewal process are.

1. WHERE THE CERTIFICATE IS RENEWED:

When renewing the Digital Certificate, we must access the FNMT (National Currency and Stamp Factory) website and go to the section that concerns us, whether it is for a Physical Person or a Representative Certificate. Then we will check the Renew section, and finally Request Renewal. It will be in this final section where we will select the current certificate, to subsequently complete the required information and process the renewal. 

2. EXPIRY AND RENEWAL OF THE CERTIFICATE:

FNMT Digital Certificates have a validity date:

• For Physical Persons the duration is 4 years,
• For Corporate Representative Administrator it is 2 years.

The renewal process for both your Physical Person certificate and Corporate Representative Administrator certificate can be carried out during the 60 days prior to the expiration date of your certificate, provided it has not been previously revoked. The only thing necessary is to have your current certificate installed on the equipment from which the renewal is requested.

Observation: “You will not be able to renew your Digital Certificate if the certificate you now want to renew was obtained by identifying yourself with another digital certificate or was already renewed previously. If either of these two cases occurs, a new certificate cannot be issued without you verifying your identity in person at a Registry Office (Hacienda or Autonomous Cabildo)”.

3. PRICE OF RENEWAL:

• For Physical Persons it is free,
• For Corporate Representative Administrator it entails a payment of 24 euros. This will be made in the last step of the renewal, and only payment with credit/debit cards will be allowed. Within 24 hours, you will receive in the assigned email, the link to be able to download the invoice.
